Tragic Three-vehicle Accident in Orange Grove Leaves One Dead, Others Injured

The Department of Public Safety is releasing additional information regarding the fatal collision that occurred on Thursday in Orange Grove and involved three automobiles.

Sugarland resident James Siecko, 54 years old, was driving northbound on State Highway 359 as he approached the intersection of Farm to Market 534, according to the state police. Siecko was pronounced dead at the site of the accident.

In the process of approaching the FM road while heading northbound on the highway, a Ford F-150 driven by a Sandia resident who was 76 years old failed to surrender the right of way.

A woman who was 76 years old was driving an Infinity, which was also engaged in the collision. She was involved in the collision along with another vehicle that was behind her.

Siecko’s Dodge Ram went off the road and toppled over onto its side after it had left the roadway.

Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on the spot by Judge Matthew Schmidt at approximately 3:25 p.m., even though he had incurred significant injuries in the collision and that Halo Flight had been dispatched to rescue him.

A precautionary measure was taken to evacuate everyone else involved in the collision to Christus Spohn in Alice. San Diego Highway Patrol officers are continuing their investigation into the collision at this time.

A Dodge Ram truck was traveling south on State Highway 359 at the same time as a Ford truck and an Infiniti were traveling north, as reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

It was during the attempt of one of the trucks to make a left turn that the tragedy took place. A collision involving three vehicles occurred as a result of the vehicle leaving the roadway and rolling over.

All of the drivers were sent to a hospital in Alice with minor injuries, but the driver of the Ram truck was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
