A one-vehicle crash Saturday night near Kempner killed two people, including a three-month-old newborn, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety news release.
Destiny Ramirez, 28, of Huntsville, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV east on U.S. Highway 190 near Kempner around 9:40 p.m. Saturday, according to Sgt. Bryan Washko of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
An examination indicated that Ramirez was approaching a curve at a hazardous speed for the wet road conditions, according to Washko. Ramirez lost control, crossed into the westbound lanes, and crashed with a guardrail, he stated.
Ramirez and a three-month-old newborn passenger were both ejected after being unrestrained. A 5-year-old, a 7-year-old, and a 2-year-old passenger in the vehicle were all unrestrained. They were sent to the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Temple ER for injuries.
Ramirez and the three-month-old passenger were pronounced dead on the spot.
