The Kansas Department of Transportation announced that westbound Interstate 70 has been closed from Goodland to Denver, Colorado, due to a winter storm that has brought snow to the area.
According to KDOT authorities, due to severe winter conditions, the interstate may be blocked until Saturday or later.
They said it may be necessary to close other stretches of the interstate or other roadways in northwest Kansas to avoid people from being stranded as hotels and truck parking facilities fill up.
Drivers are reminded to strap up and stay attentive to changing weather conditions.
The storm might bring 2-4 inches of snow to extreme northwest Kansas, with an additional 7-14 inches in northeast Colorado. Limon, Colorado had 14 inches on the ground, while Aurora recorded 11 inches.
