OLMOS PARK, Texas – The partner of a lady involved in a missing persons investigation in Olmos Park has been detained on family violence charges.
Brad Simpson, 53, was arrested early Wednesday morning on accusations of assault resulting in bodily injury-family violence and unlawful restraint. According to Kendall County jail records, Brad Simpson faces a $1 million bond each on both charges, for a total value of $2 million.
As of Wednesday evening, KSAT reported that the 53-year-old male was still in custody.
He was apprehended off Interstate 10 East on a frontage road in Kendall County, according to Olmos Park police.
The Olmos Park Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety are looking for Simpson’s wife, Suzanne Clark Simpson, who has gone missing since Sunday.
During a news conference on Wednesday, Olmos Park Police Chief Fidel Villegas stated that Brad Simpson is not now a suspect in his wife’s abduction.
Suzanne Clark Simpson was last seen around 11 p.m. Sunday on the 500 block of East Olmos Drive, near Shook Avenue. Police say she was wearing a black dress when she went out that night.
Sergeant Deon Cockrell stated that the search began in a wooded area near Simpson’s home. Roads are closed as the investigation continues and will remain so for the next 24 hours, police said.
According to police, there was a conflict between the Simpsons after they left The Argyle, a private club in Alamo Heights, between 10 and 11 p.m. on Sunday.
According to an arrest warrant document, Brad Simpson informed detectives that around 3 p.m. on Monday, their child’s school contacted to inform him that he had not been picked up from school. Suzanne Clark Simpson normally picks up their child from school, according to the affidavit.
Villegas stated that Brad Simpson was scheduled to meet with him regarding his missing wife, but he was uncooperative and failed to appear.
Police said they spoke with a neighbor who reported seeing the pair in a physical altercation Sunday night. He also stated that he heard screaming from a wooded area east of his home.
Villegas stated that, to his knowledge, the couple has no history of domestic violence, but police are still investigating. However, he stated that numerous witnesses informed police that there was animosity between the family members.
Villegas said officers investigated the wooded area and discovered two objects that they are investigating, but he did not elaborate on what those items were. He stated that he did not want people to look for Suzanne Simpson without police supervision.
“We’re very concerned,” Villegas explained.
Suzanne Clark Simpson’s cell phone has also gone missing, according to the chief. He stated that they are working on obtaining search warrants to investigate the family’s house and locate the smartphone.
Villegas also stated that they were looking into the family’s other homes.
Olmos Park police are searching for tips about Brad Simpon’s car, a 2019 dark-colored GMC Sierra pickup truck. They are asking for anyone who saw the truck Sunday night following the family violence incident.
Olmos Park police are receiving assistance from other authorities in this investigation because the department has limited manpower and resources due to its size.
