WHEATFIELD, Ind – According to new court filings, a dad in northern Indiana confessed to murdering two of his children after a night of drinking.
Steven Valle and Samantha Sebella are both being jailed without bond for murder. Prosecutors have filed probable cause documentation, but they want more time before pursuing formal charges against both of them.
The investigation began when the pair battled over Sebella’s alleged use of methamphetamines. Valle visited a buddy in Wheatfield for a few days. Valle made a surprising confession while drinking with his companion.
“I killed two of my kids,” Valle allegedly replied. “I burnt them in the fire pit at my house.”
The friend informed police that he asked inquiries after that, and Valle stated that he and Sebella “smothered their firstborn but drowned the second and burned their bodies in the fire pit at their house.”
According to the acquaintance, Sebella attempted to phone Valle but he did not answer. When a friend texted her, she allegedly said, “Steven burnt my babies.”
When the buddy called the cops, they found the pair at a motel in Kentland, Indiana, about an hour southwest of Wheatfield. They lived there with their four-year-old kid, who was born at home and never acquired a birth certificate or social security number.
The couple allegedly denied having any other children at home, as well as any miscarriages or stillbirths. The couple’s phones were seized by the police.
They then proceeded to the house where the couple used to dwell. A new tenant was residing there, but he allowed police permission to search the property. Police sent cadaver dogs, which provided positive hits in some sites. An anthropologist from the University of Indianapolis found bone fragments at each location.
Police were granted a search warrant to examine the couple’s cellphones. Court filings show that investigators discovered multiple incriminating messages. Detectives think that throughout several conversations, Valle’s friend Alex was texting Sebella on his phone.
