A New York mother was stabbed 34 times in front of her two-year-old child by the child’s father, a day after the mother’s order of protection against him expired. Brenda Guadalupe Alfaro-Alcantara was found stabbed to death in the basement of a Botsford Avenue home shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to police.
Authorities said the child’s father, Jose W. Funes-Zabala, waited until Saturday, the day after the protective order expired, to show up and visit his kid. Police told ABC station WABC that the couple, who had a turbulent relationship in the past, got into a fight after Funes-Zabala discovered she was dating.
According to authorities, the disagreement escalated and culminated with Alfaro-Alcantara being stabbed many times in front of her two-year-old kid. After perpetrating the crime, Funes-Zabala departed the area, leaving his child behind, according to authorities.
“I cannot comprehend what that baby went through. “It’s unbelievable,” neighbor Larissa Del Gado said. “His son was present as it happened. He witnessed this. “And he stayed there, covered in his mother’s blood,” Captain Stephen Fitzpatrick explained.
According to officers, family members noticed the boy as he came out of the house covered in his mother’s blood and ran into other family members. “I cannot comprehend what that baby went through. “It’s unbelievable,” neighbor Larissa Del Gado said. Law enforcement launched a manhunt for Funes-Zabala, who was eventually located in a local hospital with self-inflicted wounds.
After being deemed physically and mentally competent for arraignment, the man was charged with second-degree murder for brutally stabbing Alfaro-Alcantara and endangering a child’s welfare. The man’s next court appearance date is unknown at this time.
During a press conference, Fitzpatrick stated that anyone with an order of protection can easily extend it. “I can’t emphasize enough that if you feel like an order of protection is still warranted, you should still reapply and have it re-upped,” stated the governor. “We’re always here – if you don’t want to talk to us you can call our domestic violence hotlines and try to stop this type of violence.”
The horrifying murder occurred after a Philadelphia kid allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend 30 times in a parking lot. Morgan McCaffery, 18, was savagely cut when someone contacted police to the Meadowbrook train station after spotting her bloodied body next to her car. Police tried to save McCaffery, but they were too late. During a scan of the crime scene, officers recovered two bloodied knives on the ground.
After interrogating witnesses at the scene, authorities learned that one individual saw a white jeep departing the area. Two hours later, authorities received a tip from a mom who claimed her son had returned home covered in blood and confessed to assaulting a female. Officers arrived to Gilbert Newton III’s residence and quickly observed the white vehicle with blood.
When authorities entered the house, they discovered Newton, 19, seated on the couch, covered in blood. The youngster quickly confessed to the murder and told police that he lured McCaffery to the train station at 7:30 a.m., claiming he wanted to talk about their most recent breakup; the couple had been on and off multiple times.
According to the boy, he brought the kitchen knives to test her feelings for him, seeing if he would intervene if he used them on himself. Newton allegedly insulted her, prompting the girl to slap and spit on him. The acts fueled his wrath.
“I had so much running through my mind,” he said. “I was supposed to stab myself, but as soon as she slapped me and spat on me, I thought, ‘She must not care about me’.” That’s when he stated he drew his knives. “I immediately began stabbing,” he acknowledged.
