A strong weather system blowing into New Mexico is expected to deliver brisk winds and cooler temperatures Tuesday.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Albuquerque reported decreased northwest winds Monday evening, but a colder disturbance will bring more gusty conditions, particularly in the northern mountains and central highlands.
High wind warnings are in effect for regions such as Clines Corners, where gusts of 55-65 mph were reported.
A Wind Advisory has also been issued on Tuesday, potentially expanding to cover the Sangre de Cristo and Sandia/Manzano mountains.
Temperatures may drop to 5-15 degrees below normal by midweek. Relief arrives Thursday, with high pressure bringing milder weather and lighter winds, before greater gusts return over the weekend.
