Residents of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula should expect a mix of rain and snow this week.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Marquette says light rain will gradually taper off to the northeast overnight. Winds will also subside, and temperatures will fall to lows of 32 to 42 degrees.
Rain will resume in the eastern Upper Peninsula on Wednesday morning, extending west by the afternoon. Wet snow may mix in throughout the nighttime hours, especially in higher elevations. High temperatures will range from 38 to 47 degrees.
By Thursday, the region will have more widespread rain and wet snow, with the precipitation tapering off in the afternoon. Snow accumulation is forecast to vary from half an inch to an inch in most places. However, Baraga County and nearby regions may receive up to 2 inches of heavy, wet snow.
Drivers are advised to exercise caution as road conditions may turn slick, particularly in regions where snow accumulates.
