A man was killed and a woman got life-threatening injuries in a single-vehicle accident on IL Route 29 Friday night.
According to Illinois State Police (ISP), the vehicle was heading south on Route 29 near North 2200 East Road. Around 9:30 p.m., ISP Troop 6 units responded to reports of a fatal accident involving a single car.
According to ISP, the motorist, a 42-year-old female from Pana, left the road, entered a ditch, hit a culvert, and came to rest in a ditch for “unknown reasons”.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. The passenger, a 60-year-old man from Pana, perished in the incident.
The Friday crash closed IL Route 29 for part of the night. Around 3:17 a.m., all lanes of traffic were cleared and opened to cars. The accident took place between North 2200 East Road and East 450 North Road.
The crash is still being investigated.
