Police are investigating a gunshot in Lafayette that injured many individuals.
The incident occurred Thursday night at the Lafayette Laundry laundromat on the 3100 block of South Street in Lafayette.
Around 7:40 p.m., Lafayette police officers responded to a complaint of a guy with a gun at a laundromat. They learned moments later that shots had been fired.
Officers arrived and discovered four victims who had obviously been shot. One of the victims, identified only as a male, was declared dead at the hospital. One of the other casualties is in critical condition, while another man and woman who were injured are said to be “stable.”
A Lafayette police official tells 13News that one of the injured is the shooter, and there is no anticipated danger to the public.
“I think it’s a very tragic event for our community,” said Lafayette Police Sgt. Shawn Verma.
Investigators are on the scene with K-9 cops and are inspecting cameras in the establishment for proof of the shooting.
