Kansas Woman Arrested for Shooting Husband During Vacation at Pensacola Beach, Charged With Attempted Murder

A Kansas lady was arrested Monday for reportedly shooting her husband while they were on vacation at Pensacola Beach.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a shooting at the Fairfield Inn on Pensacola Beach around 10:30 p.m. Jacqueline King, 31, of Wichita, was arrested after reportedly shooting her husband following a violent domestic altercation.

The man was transferred to a local hospital, and his present state is unknown. King is accused of attempted murder.

The shooter is being held in the Escambia County Jail without bond. King’s Facebook profile indicates that the pair has at least three children together.

According to court documents, a lady in Clay County was accused of killing her husband in June after alleging he tried to choke her before she shot him. Melissa Hoffner-Allen, 48, was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action following the death of her husband, Ricky Allen, 50.

The accused has pleaded not guilty. According to social media posts, the couple celebrated their tenth anniversary approximately seven months ago. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported receiving a call from the 16200 block of Country Ridge Drive, north of Kearney, Missouri, at 10 p.m.

Hoffner-Allen, who called 911, instantly admitted to police detectives that she had shot her husband in the chest with a semiautomatic gun, according to court filings. The 50-year-old was pronounced deceased on the spot. Officers took the lady to jail, where she said Allen was “mad at her” that night, prompting him to assault and choke her, according to court filings.

She told officials she was able to get away and reach the semiautomatic handgun her husband had purchased. Hoffner-Allen said that her late spouse encouraged her to shoot him. Investigators discovered shot casings on the stairway of the couple’s home, along with numerous additional firearms. When the shooter was arrested, she had noticeable bruises on her arms.

According to social media posts, Allen worked as a union pipefitter. He had three children: Dylan, Autumn, and Bekah, and four grandchildren. Bekah, who had just graduated from Kearney High School, defended his father online.

“He never failed to make people feel accepted and loved,” Bekah Allen stated on Facebook. “He was the most loyal friend and was always willing to help someone in need.”
