A snowstorm that traveled throughout Colorado and brought Denver its first official measurable snowfall of the season had a significant impact on the Eastern Plains. And, as many of us are still shoveling, another major blast is expected for Friday.
Snowfall estimates in the Denver metro region and eastern Colorado varied from 5 inches to more than a foot in some areas. Officially, we had 5.5 inches of snow at Denver International Airport, with more than a foot in Genesee and Limon.
There are still Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings in effect until Thursday for a few more inches of snowfall.
Snowfall will be mild on Thursday, although extra flakes will fall here and there. Southern Colorado was blanketed in one to more than two feet of snow, with more predicted through Wednesday night.
Winter Storm Warnings and Watches are in effect for the southern part of the state for another foot or more Thursday night and Friday night.
The same storm that unloaded on the state on Wednesday will now move into southeastern Colorado across the plains. This will result in another good blast of winter-like moisture. We’ve already posted a First Alert Weather Day for Friday and Saturday.
At this time, similar quantities of snow are expected Friday night and Saturday day. With 3 to 6 inches possible in the Denver metro region and up to 12 inches in portions of our southern and southwestern suburbs. These figures are subject to change, but they are designed to alert you to the possibility of another severe snowfall.
