DENVER – The coyote that attacked a young girl, aged four, on Thanksgiving is currently being hunted by authorities from the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Department.
The youngster had mistaken the coyote for a dog that was hiding behind a tree. Near Colorado Springs, which is around an hour’s drive south of Denver, the small girl and another youngster approached the coyote.
Once the animal lunged at her, it grabbed the back of her head, causing her to sustain major injuries. Her father was able to scare the animal away.
The young lady was admitted to the hospital for the night. Because it is not feasible to identify the specific coyote, the officers of the CPW are currently searching for any coyotes that may be in the area where the attack occurred.
There is a possibility that the search will take several days.
