98 MPH Winds and 12 Inches of Rain Hit Northern California as Atmospheric River Unleashes Fury

A massive atmospheric river continues to saturate Northern California and the Pacific Northwest with heavy rain, mountain snow, and high winds.

Flood Watches continue in effect in Northern California, while Winter Storm and Avalanche Warnings cover the Sierra Nevada and Cascades. High wind warnings continue into Oregon, with gusts reaching 98 mph in some locations.

Since Tuesday, California’s Venado has received 12.68 inches of rain, while Mazama in Washington has received 16.2 inches of snow.

Coastal gusts have brought down trees and caused power outages, while whiteout conditions remain in mountain passes.

The National Weather Service predicts 12 to 16 inches of rain and considerable snow accumulation through Friday. Residents along the coast and visitors to the mountains are advised to exercise caution.
