A man has been jailed in Michigan after allegedly assaulting a 7-year-old girl in a park. Gary Lansky, 73, has been charged with assault with intent to murder and felonious assault, according to a Facebook post by the Detroit Police Department.
Lansky’s attorney’s contact information was not provided. Around 3:45 p.m. on Oct. 8, Detroit police were dispatched to a home for complaints of a stabbing. Police said they arrived to find the youngster being treated by medics for a laceration to her throat.
According to police, Lansky approached the child in a park and used a knife to cut her throat.
“I was playing on a spinning green object. And I was playing… And then I noticed a man and said hello to him. The girl informed WXYZ that he was approaching her and walking like way.
She claimed she kicked the man in the legs, according to the news outlet.
“He dragged my face up, and the other hand had a knife. She told WJBK, “He just came out of nowhere and slid the knife on me.”
According to the site, the girl ran home and showed her mother what had happened. Her grandmother started shouting, scaring Lansky away.
Later that day, the police apprehended Lansky. Officials suspect he was having a mental breakdown at the time of the incident, according to Modbee.
