2 Dead, 5 Injured in Head-on Crash on U.S. Highway 287 in Wise County

A head-on collision in Wise County on Saturday killed two individuals and injured five others, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

According to a police report, the incident occurred around 9:17 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12 on U.S. Highway 287 near Hubbard Street in Alvord, Texas, which is north of Decatur in Wise County. According to DPS, the incident occurred when a car going north failed to negotiate a curve and lost control, crossing the median and colliding with another vehicle head-on.

According to the report, two passengers died in the incident after the car lost control. Phillip Jacob Pennartz, 58, and Tina Marie Pennartz, 54, of Wichita Falls have died. Emily Marie Pennartz, 25, and Trace Pennartz, 6, were seriously injured and taken to Fort Worth hospitals.

The passengers of the other vehicle, Bryan Rahm, 36, Adam Brooks, 40, and Carlton Sherman, 38, were flown to hospitals with significant injuries.

According to the report, both of the passengers were confirmed dead at the scene. The department stated that the event is under investigation.
