A wrong-way driver caused a crash on Southlake Boulevard on Friday morning, resulting in a confrontation and a shooting, according to Southlake police.
The Southlake police department announced on social media that the accident occurred between Carroll Avenue and Central Avenue, near the Central Market grocery store.
Officers claimed no one was harmed in the gunfire and that one suspect had been apprehended.
Sean Wallace Jordon, 19 of Colleyville, has been named the suspect. He is accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Southlake police said in a news release that additional charges may be anticipated.
Surveillance footage from a nearby jewelry store shows someone yelling, “He’s got a gun, he’s got a gun,” just before what appears to be over a dozen shots are fired. People are running, and dirt is coming up from where the bullets hit the ground.
According to Southlake police, Jordon, the wrong-way motorist, pulled a firearm from his vehicle and began shooting at another driver and an officer.
“The officer returned fire, discharging his duty weapon in defense of the other driver and himself,” according to Southlake police. “Thankfully, neither the officer nor the other driver was injured during the exchange.”
