A hit-and-run vehicle struck and killed a woman who was either using a wheelchair or pushing one along the border of Fairmount Park in Philadelphia early on Tuesday morning. The victim was either pushing or had used a wheelchair.
The location where the woman was struck along Reservoir Drive, close to Diamond Drive and the Strawberry Mansion area, was marked by a wheelchair that had been broken, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small of the Philadelphia Police Department. The incident occurred just before two in the morning on October 15, 2024.
“The female was either in the wheelchair or pushing the wheelchair, we’re not certain at this time because there were no witnesses to this accident,” Small stated in his statement.
According to the authorities, she was struck with such power that one of her boots was discovered approximately one hundred feet away from her body.
Small said, “She was knocked out of one of her boots,” during the incident.
