Teen Injured, Driver Dead in US 380 Collision Under Investigation by Texas DPS

YOUNG COUNTY, Texas – A head-on collision on US 380 near Newcastle killed one person and injured two others, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The crash occurred on November 16, 2024, about 5:45 p.m.

The accident included a 2023 Mercedes CLA 250 driven by Jeffy Ann Bartholomae, 47, Northlake, Texas, and a 2007 Mazda 3 driven by Jody Lynn Rymel, 44, of Crosbyton, Texas.

Bartholomae, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken to United Regional in Wichita Falls and then transferred to John Peter Smith in Fort Worth for non-incapacitating injuries.

Rymel, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth and pronounced dead on November 17, 2024.

A 15-year-old Crosbyton, Texas, passenger in the Mazda 3 was taken to Cooks Children’s Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

The preliminary investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety indicated that Bartholomae’s vehicle, going eastward, failed to maintain a single lane, crossed into the westbound lane, and collided with Rymel’s vehicle head-on. The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that the crash is still under investigation.
