Taste Is Pending! Layoffs Hit Missouri Workforce Following Contract Termination

A major round of layoffs is coming to Missouri as Spectrum Healthcare Resources has announced plans to cut 280 jobs by the end of May. The news was confirmed in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice posted on the Missouri Jobs website.

The St. Louis-based healthcare provider, which offers services primarily to military and government personnel, attributed the layoffs to a “loss of contract.”

According to the notice, Spectrum will no longer provide nurse and vocational rehabilitation services for the U.S. Department of Labor, effective May 29, 2025. The contract has been awarded to other vendors, though no further details were provided.

Due to the termination of this agreement, the company said it would implement a “significant reduction” in its workforce. While 280 positions are being eliminated, Spectrum did not specify how many affected people are based in Missouri.

Under the WARN Act, employers must provide advance notice of mass layoffs or plant closures, giving employees and communities time to prepare for the impact.
