South Carolina Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident, Passenger Hospitalized Following Abbeville Highway Crash

A single-vehicle incident in Anderson County on Sunday night killed one person and injured another.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on Abbeville Highway near Shiloh Creek Road.

Troopers said two people were riding a Harley Davidson motorbike west when witnesses reported the driver losing control of the vehicle after abruptly applying the brakes.

The motorcycle then veered off the right side of the road and into a ditch, ejecting both occupants.

Both victims were rushed to the hospital, and the driver was later pronounced dead.

The driver was recognized by the Anderson County Coroner’s Office as 54-year-old Gilbert resident Benjamin Clark Temple.

The SCHP continues to investigate the crash.
