Small Plane Crash in Savannah Neighborhood Claims One Life; Pilot Dies, Passenger Injured

A small plane crashed in a Savannah, Georgia, residential neighborhood on Sunday night, killing one person, according to local authorities.

According to a brief statement from the Savannah Police Department, officers were rushed to the incident location on East 66th Street, approximately 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) south of the city’s historic landmark district.

“The pilot died, and the passenger sustained minor injuries,” Savannah police said on X. “No one on the ground was injured.”

The Savannah Firefighter Union reported on Facebook that the crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m. The Savannah Professional Firefighters Association uploaded a photo of a mangled plane on the ground in front of a house.

The cause of the accident was not immediately determined. According to police, the Federal Aviation Administration is looking into the incident.
