A Dix woman was airlifted after a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 71 south of the Nebraska state line Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday morning, shortly after 7 a.m., a woman was driving down Highway 71 when she lost control of her vehicle, which rolled several times and ejected her.
Kimball County Sheriff David Hottell believes the slippery road was a contributing factor in the collision.
The Kimball EMS, Kimball County Sheriff’s Office, Air Link, New Raymer Fire Department and EMS, Weld County Sheriff’s Office, and Colorado State Patrol all responded to the event.
Kimball EMS ground took the woman to Oliver Reservoir, where Air Link met her.
Due to weather conditions, the airport and hospital helipad were not viable options. The helicopter pilot determined that the weather near the lake was better suited for a safe landing.
She was airlifted to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff in critical condition. The Kimball County Sheriff’s Office will not release her name at this time.
The Kimball Sheriff’s Office reminds drivers to stay safe and strap up when the weather changes.
