Very mild air has surged into the Northeast, with high temperatures in the 60s and 70s forecast across much of the area. In the larger cities, temperatures will range from the mid to upper 70s, particularly tomorrow and Friday.
Tomorrow, temperatures in New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., could be around or below 80 degrees. Friday’s bonus day of pleasant weather will be courtesy of extra sunshine as our cold front dries up before reaching us, resulting in fewer clouds and a lower risk of precipitation.
That cold front will be responsible for widespread severe weather and heavy showering and thunderstorm activity throughout the Midwest later this morning and overnight.
Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Oklahoma will hold on tight when storm clusters coalesce into a powerful line later today. Prepare for widespread damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, heavy rain, and the possibility of a few tornadoes.
As a result, the National Weather Service may issue severe thunderstorm watches and tornado watches if the activity merits them. Heavy showers and thunderstorms may also hit Wisconsin, Illinois, and Missouri before moving down into Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana. While the line narrows as it stretches out, strong thunderstorms may occur in these regions overnight tonight and/or early tomorrow morning.
Today in New York City, expect sunshine and extremely pleasant temperatures. High temperatures will be in the low to mid-70s. Tomorrow’s high is expected to be 75-80 degrees, with the hottest temperatures predicted in downtown Brooklyn, upper Queens, and west of Manhattan around Newark and Jersey City.
As previously said, our front is very weak by the time it comes here on Friday. This implies more sunshine and a breezy day, with highs in the mid to upper 70s; cooler along the shore. There is a risk of a few passing showers in the afternoon, following which we will begin to cool off.
For your first weekend in November, expect sunshine, breezy air, and day highs near 60 degrees.
