Rangers 2-0 win Mariners

The Rangers lost to the Royals today in the teams’ Cactus League opener on Saturday in Surprise, 9-1.  Ronald Guzmán and Matt Davidson both doubled for Texas, and Andy Ibáñez drove in the Rangers’ lone run with a 2-out single in the second inning.

Guzmán made a difficult running catch in foul territory in the 5th inning, sliding into a camera well adjacent to the Rangers’ dugout after recording the out.  Joey Gallo and Jeff Mathis both walked.  Starter Ariel Jurado took the loss, allowing 2 runs in the first inning.

The Rangers play their first game of the spring as the home team on Sunday, hosting the Milwaukee Brewers at 3:05 p.m. CT in Surprise.  LHP Yohander Méndez is slated to make his spring debut for Texas against Brewers RHP Josh Tomlin.
