Rizer 3-run HR leads TCU over Oklahoma 6-4

NORMAN, Okla. — Johnny Rizer blasted a three-run home run in the first inning to give the TCU Horned Frogs an early lead en route to a 6-4 win over the Oklahoma Sooners Sunday at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

The Horned Frogs are now 20-10 on the season and above .500 in Big 12 play with a 5-4 mark.

TCU was clutch with two outs as all six of their runs plated came with two outs in an inning.

The Sooners cracked the goose egg on their side of the scoreboard with Tyler Hardman hitting a two-out single to make it 3-1 TCU.

The Frogs took a 4-1 lead when Jake Guenther hit a single to left field in the second inning.

Oklahoma scored on a groundout in the third inning to trim the lead to 4-2 Horned Frogs.

TCU plated key insurance runs in the seventh inning with Guenther scoring on a wild pitch. Conner Shepherd drove in Alex Isola on a base hit to give the Frogs a 6-2 lead.

The Sooners rallied with a two-run, two-out double in the bottom of the ninth inning, but James Notary got the final out and his first save of the season.

Brandon Williamson earned his third win of the season (3-1), going a career-high six innings and allowing two runs on four hits, walking two, and striking out five. Jake Eissler pitched in the seventh and eighth for TCU.

The Horned Frogs finish up their four-game road trip Tuesday night at Dallas Baptist with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch.
