Record-breaking Heat Expected Today: Temperatures Soar to 92°F Ahead of Weekend Rain

Residents are in for a scorcher today, with temperatures reaching 92°F, continuing October’s abnormally hot stretch. The National Weather Service has issued an advisory for possible record-breaking heat in the region, with rains expected on Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Friday will offer sunny skies and highs near 90°F, with temperatures dropping slightly overnight to the low 60s. While Friday night should be fairly clear, the chance of showers increases by Saturday evening, providing a possible respite from the oppressive heat.

Motorists on I-20 and other roads should be cautious, as Saturday’s rain may cause brief delays, despite current forecasts predicting only a 20% chance of showers. Sunday’s temperatures will moderate to 83°F, with largely sunny skies forecast throughout the day.

Residents should keep hydrated and avoid extended outdoor activity during the high afternoon heat today and Friday. While Saturday may provide some relief in the form of scattered showers, no significant rainfall is forecast. Those planning outdoor activities on Sunday and Monday should expect sunny, warm weather, with highs ranging from 83°F to 86°F.
