Tim Federowicz had a double, home run, and 3 RBI in his 2 plate appearances, keying a game-opening span in which Texas took a 4-0 lead. Starter Joe Palumbo recorded 2.0 scoreless innings for the win. Todd Frazier went 2-for-3 with a double, as he has reached safely in each of the Rangers’ first 2 spring contests. Joey Gallo hit a 2-strike opposite field double in the 1st inning before scoring the team’s first run. The offense hit 3 home runs among 6 total extra-base hits, as Adolis García and Yadiel Rivera both went deep after entering as reserves. Rob Refsnyder singled in the 8th, as he has hit safely in the team’s first 2 games despite no starts to this point. Brett Martin and Nick Goody each pitched a scoreless inning in relief, and Demarcus Evans overcame an eventful 9th inning to record the save.

The Rangers and Royals played a ‘B’ game this morning on Nolan Ryan Field in Surprise, with Texas earning a 4-2 win in the 6 1/2-inning contest. Nick Ciuffo homered and doubled, and Jose Trevino went 1-for-4. Among participants from minor league camp, Brendon Davis hit a solo home run, JP Martinez was 1-for-2 with a run scored, and Davis Wendzel had a sac fly.
The Rangers play another road game on Monday, facing the Reds in Goodyear at 2:05 p.m. CT. RHP Arturo Reyes is slated to make his Texas debut against Cincinnati RHP Luis Castillo.
