ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has added right-handed pitcher Luke Farrell to the active roster from the Alternate Training Site. Farrell will fill the additional roster spot allotted to MLB clubs while playing a doubleheader.
Farrell will be in his second stint with the Rangers this season, also Opening Day-August 5. He made 3 appearances with the club during his first stint, allowing 5 runs/earned runs over 3.1 innings. His last appearance with Texas was on August 5 at Oakland.
Farrell was on the Injured List from August 11-31 while on option at the Alternate Training Site, but he was reinstated on September 1 and filled a slot on the club’s taxi squad for the road trip to Houston and Seattle from September 1-7. He recorded 8.2 scoreless innings over 7 appearances with the Rangers in Spring Training, and had a 6.00 ERA (4 ER/6.0 IP) in 5 intrasquad games against teammates during Summer Camp.
The Rangers host the Athletics in a doubleheader today beginning at 4:05 p.m. CT at Globe Life Field.
