Police are investigating after an Uber driver was carjacked by a woman who eventually crashed into several other cars before fleeing on foot in Queens.
On Thursday, October 10, at approximately 11:20 p.m., the event occurred on 86th Avenue in Bellerose, Queens.
According to police, a 52-year-old Uber driver was picking up a passenger at the spot when an unidentified female entered the vehicle.
A surveillance video shows the robber accessing the Uber’s front passenger door.
According to authorities, the woman then strikes the victim repeatedly in the face and torso, bites him in the back, and forces him out of his vehicle.
According to police, the lady left in the victim’s vehicle, driving westbound on 86th Avenue before colliding with several parked cars and a tree.
The suspect then escaped on foot, heading in an unknown direction. The victim had minor injuries and was sent to Long Island Jewish Medical Center in stable condition.
Uber issued a statement following the attack.
“What this driver went through is really terrible. We’ve contacted him and offered to help. We have been in contact with police and will continue to support their investigation,” an Uber spokeswoman stated.
Police are currently looking for the culprit, who is described as a female standing about 5 feet tall and weighing 180 pounds.
