The Queen City Bulldogs beat the Linden-Kildare Tigers 14-0 Friday night to go 1-0 on the season.
The Bulldogs went 4-of-16 for 67 yards through the air, and were led by Alex Shelton, who went 3-of-9 for 66 yards. Shelton also rushed eight times for 27 yards. Queen City produced 66 yards on 22 carries, and tallied 133 yards of total offense. Jeremiah Drayton led all Queen City rushers with seven carries for 36 yards.
Shelton kicked off the scoring with 13:45 in the second quarter with a 16-yard run to cap off a four-play, 28-yard drive. The Bulldogs failed to convert the extra point, and the score was 6-0.
With 5:14 left in the second quarter, Queen City engineered a four-play, 70-yard drive with Shelton connecting with Damir Rascoe for a 43-yard touchdown. Drayton ran in the two-point conversion to extend the Bulldogs’ lead 14-0.
The Bulldogs had 25 yards of penalties and three turnovers compared to the Tigers’ 30 penalties yards. Linden-Kildare had eight turnovers with seven of them occurring on downs.
Linden-Kildare went 6-of-18 passing for 34 yards. The Tigers had 66 yards rushing on 34 carries.
