Pewitt spoils Queen City girls’ senior night; Brahmas beat QC boys

QUEEN CITY — The Paul Pewitt girls’ basketball team spoiled the Queen City girls’ senior night with a 66-28 win Tuesday night at Queen City High School.

Pewitt’s Sissy Jones was the game’s leading scorer as she collected 16 points. Jones was problematic for Queen City as she produced six steals for Pewitt to go along with her four rebounds.

Mya Heath added 14 points, a rebound, and three steals for Pewitt.

Cierra Brady was Queen City’s leading scorer with 11 points. Brady was two rebounds away from a double-double with eight, and she also collected one steal. Hannah Fitts scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds.

The Pewitt boys escaped Queen City with a 71-68 win. Deiontre Hill produced a double-double for the Bulls as he scored 14 points, gathered 13 rebounds, and stole one possession. Amari Johnson led the way for Pewitt with 18 points, three rebounds, and three steals.

The Queen City boys had two players who reached double figures against the Brahmas. The Bulldogs gave it all they had with Dylan Scott scoring a game-high 22 points and grabbing five rebounds along with a steal. Caleb Dawson also reached the 20-point plateau with 21 points and a steal. Clayton Whittenberg added nine points, seven rebounds, and two blocks.
