No. 22 Texas A&M controls Abilene Christian 9-3

Miami 48-33 win A&M

COLLEGE STATION — The No. 22 Texas A&M Aggies breezed to a 9-3 win over the Abilene Christian Wildcats Wednesday night at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

Hunter Coleman returned to the lineup and had a two-run blast in his return.

“Yeah, it’s good to get that guy back out there,” said Aggies coach Rob Childress. “He swung the bat good tonight, and we need to be able to give Mikey Hoehner a breather every now and then. We weren’t able to do that the whole night, but he just caught I guess an inning or two. It’s good to have him back.”

The Aggies out-hit Abilene Christian 12-5. Logan Foster went 3-of-4 with a run, a double, and a RBI. Bryce Blaum was 2-of-3 with three runs.

Chris Weber gave up three runs, one earned, on three hits while producing three strikeouts in his start. The Maroon and White used four relievers while Chandler Jozwiak got the win, now having a 2-0 record on the season. Jozwiak threw a perfect inning with a strikeout. Texas A&M’s bullpen went for 4.2 shutout innings combined and gave up two hits and two walks while fanning nine. In total, Texas A&M produced 15 strikeouts, their 11th double-digit game of the season.

Texas A&M will be back in action at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park Friday for a 6:32 p.m. first pitch to commence a three-game series with the Gonzaga Bulldogs.
