No. 22 TCU rallies 3-2 over No. 9 Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 22 TCU scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to beat No. 9 Texas Baseball 3-2 Friday at Lupton Stadium.

Sophomore Bryce Elder pitched a gem, allowing just one run on five hits in eight innings pitched. He struck out seven batters. Elder used double plays to get out of the first and fourth innings and also struck out the side around a single in the second inning.

Texas scored the first run of the game in exciting fashion in the top of the eighth. With Duke Ellis on third and Eric Kennedy on first, the Longhorns executed a double steal with Ellis sliding home safely. Ellis was originally called out on the play but the play was overturned after a video review.

The Longhorns added one more run in the ninth to go up 2-0 after Ryan Reynolds reached on a leadoff walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a groundout and scored on a Michael McCann sacrifice fly.

TCU scored its three runs on a hit batter, two walks, two wild pitches and two singles.

Texas and TCU continue the series Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and the game will be televised on ESPNU.
