Kansas City and Independence police are investigating a homicide after discovering a man fatally shot in a car on Sunday afternoon near Truman Road and Interstate 435.
Officers were summoned to the southbound exit ramp at 4:45 p.m. to assist with a complaint of a person slumped over in a car, according to police.
The man was pronounced dead at the spot.
Detectives have not identified any suspects, and it is still unknown where the victim was when he was shot.
Later on Sunday, Kansas City police confirmed that the shooting took place in Independence.
