Lodolo, No. 19 TCU dominate Seton Hall 5-1

FORT WORTH – Behind a strong performance from Nick Lodolo on the mound, No. 19 TCU won Game 1 of a doubleheader against Seton Hall, 5-1, Friday afternoon at Lupton Stadium.

Nick Lodolo (5-2) was outstanding on the mound in pitching his first-career complete game. He faced just four batters over the minimum in a seven inning game. Lodolo finished the contest allowing just an unearned run on two hits, walked two and struck out six.

 TCU broke through in the fourth with the game’s first run. Johnny Rizer singled with one out and stole second. He was standing on third with two outs and Austin Henry on first. On a double steal attempt, the throw went through to second and Rizer raced home to give the Frogs a 1-0 lead.

 The Frogs broke the game open with four runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 5-0 lead. Alex Isola and Rizer reached on base hits to open the inning. With one out, Conner Shepherd doubled the Frogs lead with a base hit through the right side. Two batters later Bobby Goodloe followed with a 2-run single. The final run of the game scored on a Jake Guenther base hit.

 Seton Hall’s lone run of the game came after a lead-off error in the seventh. The run scored on a sacrifice fly.

The Horned Frogs improved to 21-11 with the win.
