Lodolo 200 career strikeouts in TCU 12-2 win

FORT WORTH — Nick Lodolo earned his 200th career strikeout as the N0. 20 TCU Horned Frogs blasted the Eastern Michigan Eagles 12-2 Friday night at Lupton Stadium.

Lodolo picked up the milestone strikeout in as his first of the third inning. He finished the night with 13 strikeouts, tied for his career-high. It was the third time in the last four games Lodolo has thrown 10-plus strikeouts, a feat he has accomplished six times over his career. Lodolo went seven innings and allowed just one hit and walked four.

The Horned Frogs picked up three runs on four hits in the second inning to grab the game’s first lead. Johnny Rizer led off the inning with a double and scored on an Austin Henry ground out. Andrew Keefer hit a two-run double into the left center gap for a 3-0 lead.

In the seventh inning, TCU hit seven runs with two outs. The Frogs had 11 men go to bat, and they left the inning with a 10-0 lead.

Eastern Michigan scored two runs in the eighth, and TCU managed to score two of their own in the eighth.

The Horned Frogs are 10-6 on the year. Game two will be played Saturday at Lupton Stadium with a 5:00 p.m. first pitch. Jake Eissler is set to start for TCU.
