Linden-Kildare series clinching win Rivercrest

The Linden-Kildare Tigers baseball team exploded for 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning in route to a 10-run-rule 12-2 win over the Rivercrest Rebels in the third and deciding game of the regional quarterfinals Saturday.

The game was played at Mustang Field at Chisum High School in Paris. First pitch was at 9:15 p.m., delayed 2 hours and 15 minutes because of severe thunderstorms that caused the series’ final game to be moved from Mount Pleasant to Chisum. Chisum’s field is an artificial surface was dry a couple hours after the rain stopped.

Mason Johnson was the winning pitcher for the Tigers. Mason pitched 5 innings, allowing only 5 hits, striking out 5 and walking three. He also pitched out of 2 basses loaded jams; one in the first and one in the third.

Nick Kunze led Tigers at the plate

Tigers first baseman Nick Kunze was 2-for-3 with Duece  Schuler was 1-for-2 with a triple and 2 RBI’s and Dalton Alford and Jacob Owen were each 1-for-three. Alford also had a run batted in.

Linden-Kildare scored the winning run in the bottom of the 4th inning when Caleb Cunningham scored on a wild pitch giving the Tigers the 10-run lead needed to win in 5 innings.

Linden-Kildare will play Woden in the regional semi finals next. Woden won a 3-game series against Garrison this weekend.
