A weak upper-level disturbance is expected to bring light precipitation and freezing temperatures to the region on Monday, according to the National Weather Service office in Paducah, Kentucky.
While accumulations are forecast to be light (up to an inch in some locations, mainly southern Illinois), drivers should be prepared for possibly slippery conditions.
Cold weather will continue through Tuesday, with temperatures remaining significantly below seasonal normal.
Expect a temporary warm-up as temperatures return to normal by Wednesday, but another cold front will arrive by the end of the week, bringing another blast of cold air.
Stay aware of changing weather and prepare for a cold week ahead.
