AUSTIN, Texas – No. 14 Texas Baseball came up short in the series finale with Kansas State, losing 2-0 and dropping the series Sunday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

Kansas State scored the only run they would need in the top of the first inning, with a solo home run to start the game.

Texas starting pitcher Coy Cobb tossed two innings and allowed one run on three hits. Ty Madden came out of the bullpen with a runner on and nobody out in the third inning. He quickly got a double play and got out of the inning without any runs coming across.

The Wildcats got a run off of Madden in the fourth inning to extend their lead to 2-0. Madden finished with 2 2/3 innings pitched and allowed one run on three hits.

Tristan Sevens pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief and Cole Quintanilla pitched the final two innings of scoreless baseball. Both relievers struck out four hitters apiece.

Ryan Reynolds had a multiple-hit game, going 2-for-3 with a walk. Austin Todd, Zach Zubia and Sam Bertelson had the other Longhorn hits.

Texas (23-15, 5-6 Big 12) will close its five-game homestand with a midweek game against Lamar on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
