LAWRENCE, Kan. — The Kansas Jayhawks staved off a series sweep with a 12-7 win over the No. 25 Baylor Bears Sunday.
Baylor produced 12 hits, but they had errors that undermined their defense.
“I think we just made too many mistakes early,” said Baylor coach Steve Rodriguez. “We weren’t getting ahead of hitters early on the mound and we couldn’t get anything going offensively until later in the game. I thought our guys showed a lot of heart continuing to come back, put good swings on balls and put guys in scoring position, we were just waiting for one more big hit and we just couldn’t get it.”

Bears shortstop Nick Loftin went 3-of-5 on the afternoon with two RBI, including his fifth home run of the season. It was the eighth multi-hit performance of the season for Loftin.
Baylor returns to the Lone Star State Tuesday, but will be on the road as they face Dallas Baptist Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
