Guenther earns Big 12 Player of the Week

TCU Houston 36-13 victory

FORT WORTH — Jake Guenther earned the Big 12 Player of the Week award for helping the TCU Horned Frogs go 3-1 last week.

The junior extended his reached-base streak to 30 games and had three straight multi-hit games at Oklahoma this past weekend. The first baseman posted a .615 (8-of-13) average in three games against Oklahoma. Guenther collected a three-hit performance in the series opener and then had another three-hit game in game two of the series. Guenther scored the game-tying run in the sixth inning against Oklahoma and produced the game-winning hit for TCU in the seventh with a bases-loaded single. In game three, he produced two hits, stole two bases, and scored twice to help the Horned Frogs win the series.

Guenther is the fourth TCU baseball player to be honored by the Big 12 in 2019. The other three were Porter Brown (Newcomer of the Week, Feb. 18), Austin Henry (Newcomer of the Week, March 18), and Nick Lodolo (Pitcher of the Week, April 1).
