
Going smokeless at city buildings and parks in Atlanta.
Going smokeless at these locations has been approved by the Atlanta City Council. The council voted in the ban at their meeting last Monday.
The new law makes it illegal to use any tobacco products inside or within 25 feet of city buildings in Atlanta. It will now be unlawful to smoke, or use tobacco products inside any public park in town.
The new statute includes making it illegal to smoke or use of any tobacco product inside the Atlanta Sportsplex. This new ban includes the use of vaping products.
The fine for violating the new tobacco ordinance in Atlanta be up to $500.

The American Lung Association says that second hand smoke causes over 7,000 deaths from lung cancer. It also is also responsible for almost 34,000 deaths from heart disease each year. The U.S. Surgeon General estimates in a 50 year period over 2.5 million people in the United States died from exposure to second hand smoke.
At least in these public areas listed above, you can breathe easier.
