COPPELL, Texas – Statewide gas prices a treat for Texas drives at an average of $2.25 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. That price is two cents less than on this day last week and is 27 cents less per gallon compared to this day last year. Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in Midland are paying the most on average at $2.44 while drivers in McAllen are paying the least at $2.15 per gallon. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.61, which is one cent less compared to this day last week and 18 cents less than the price per gallon at this same time last year.
Refinery maintenance across the country continues, though utilization rates have increased in the last week. Regional refinery utilization jumped up from 84.5% to 88%. In the week ahead, motorists are likely to see stable or cheaper gas prices.
“Regional refinery utilization is increasing which is adding more gasoline supply to the market and keeping prices lower,” said Daniel Armbruster, AAA Texas spokesperson. “Drivers will likely see cheaper gas prices in the beginning days of November.”
On this Halloween, AAA Texas reminds drivers to watch carefully for children crossing the street. Children may not be paying attention to traffic and might cross mid-block or between parked cars. Motorists should scan far ahead in traffic to watch for children and try to anticipate their actions.
