Who is 65 and has no plans to retire? Atlanta Public Library!
The Friends of the Atlanta Public Library said that they’re inviting everyone to come celebrate with them on June 20, from 6-8 pm. The Friends of the ATL library said it’s also the time of year to look forward to the next season of summer. That means Chocolate at the Library. The Friends of the Atlanta Public Library said that they had so much fun last year introducing an author that we want to triple the fun this year. Three authors will join them so that means one on each floor of the Library!
LaShay Abney will be in the Children’s area (basement) showing off her new book, Amber Ann. This book will help parents and children as they explore the subject of bullying.
Matt Fisk will be showcasing his book, Black Knights, Dark Days on the 2nd floor. This book will be telling the true story of their military experience in Sadr City, Iraq. Matt is the executive director of the Lancer Legacy Ranch in Maud, Tx.
Patty Wiseman will be enticing Romance readers to buy her book, An Unlikely Deception. Patty will be on the main floor with a supply of books. Patty comes to us from Jefferson.
The Friends of the Atlanta Public Library said that they hope everyone comes out and show these authors a good Atlanta Welcome. Oh, yes, there will also be chocolate, a scavenger hunt, more chocolate, prizes (legos, books, gift cards, etc.), and chocolate on every floor. There will be 5 age groups to win the prizes from the scavenger hunt. Please come so the Friends don’t have to eat it all!
Friends of the Atlanta Public Library is raffling off a quilt
The Nimble Thimble Quilt group that meets at the Library every Tuesday from 10 am – 3 pm has made a quilt to raffle off to one lucky winner. Stop at the Library soon to buy your tickets ($1 each or $5 for 6 tickets). You need not be present to win the quilt…but why miss all that chocolate?
Organizers said that anyone is welcome to join Friends ($5 individual/$10 family) who are responsible for many of the “non-budget” items that the library has acquired in recent years. The Library said that they’re grateful for all the support received from Soup Sales and Book Sales and this is their way of saying thanks by giving everyone a fun evening.
