Freeze Warning Issued for Several South Georgia Counties With Temperatures Plummeting to the 30s

Due to near-freezing temperatures overnight, a few South Georgia counties are under a Freeze Warning until 9 a.m. Monday. Counties include:

  • Atkinson County
  • Clinch County
  • Coffee County Echols County

On Monday morning, the majority of South Georgia will experience low temperatures in the low 30s. Given these conditions, widespread frost is possible tonight.

Monday is colder, with highs in the upper 50s rather than the 60s. Sunny skies are here to stay, even though a dry front will move through on Monday evening. Instead, this front will intensify the chilly, dry air that already exists.

Tuesday morning lows will stay in the low 30s, with highs in the low to mid-50s, the coolest high of the week. This is followed by the coldest lows of the week, in the mid-20s, with a probable freeze to hard freeze on Wednesday morning.

As high pressure moves east, temperatures return to normal by Thursday—highs in the 60s, with an increase in moisture through the weekend. Rain cannot be ruled out, but specific circumstances must be monitored carefully. Stay tuned.
