A mother from Central Florida was jailed for child abuse after repeatedly smashing her infant into a crib and using excessive force to restrain him.
On September 15th, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies rushed to Brandon Regional Hospital near Tampa with reports of an 18-month-old baby with several injuries, including wounds on the face, neck, and arm, as well as bruising behind the ear and on the right leg.
Detectives discovered that Alexis Hardacre, 27, repeatedly smashed the baby into a crib and restrained him with extreme force.
The suspect acknowledged causing the injuries, claiming that she lost her patience when the infant refused to sleep during naptime.
“This case is devastating. “No child should ever have to go through the pain and suffering that this innocent baby has,” stated Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We will always protect the most vulnerable members of our community and ensure those who harm them are held accountable.”
On November 18, Hardacre was arrested and charged with one count of child abuse.
This case is still open and ongoing, according to local law enforcement.
