First Alert Weather Day Issued for Friday as Rain and Storms Move Through North Texas

The CBS News Texas Weather Team has declared a First Alert Weather Day for Friday due to the growing likelihood of rain.

It was a stunning fall day in the neighborhood, with sunny skies and highs in the low 70s.

Changes are on the way overnight as clouds move in from the south, followed by scattered showers during the day primarily west of Interstate 35.

Morning temperatures begin near 60 and peak in the low 70s. Rain chances increase Thursday night into Friday as a storm and another cold front pass through North Texas.

Friday is a First Alert Weather Day, which means showers and storms will be more common and could disturb your day.

Rain will begin in our western regions Friday morning and move east throughout the day.

Rain may disrupt Friday night football games.

Fortunately, the rain and front will pass over the area by Saturday morning, and the skies will clear from west to east. The severe threat is low for the next two days, but an isolated severe storm with tiny hail and strong gusts cannot be ruled out.

There is a level 1 minimal risk for regions west of I-35. Temperatures will remain seasonal over the weekend but will rebound up to around 80 degrees by Tuesday, ahead of our next system.

Hurricane Rafael is currently hitting Western Cuba, delivering life-threatening storm surges, severe winds, and flash flooding.

It will enter the Gulf of Mexico and remain there for a few days.
