Doxakis named NCBWA Pitcher of the Month

Texas A&M junior LHP John Doxakis was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Pitcher of the Month for February.

The lefty posted a 3-0 record with a 0.43 ERA, 0.48 WHIP and .113 opponent batting average throughout February. Doxakis ranks fourth in the country with 32 strikeouts and 13th with a 16.00 strikeout to walk ratio.

Against Fordham and No. 18 Baylor, the Aggie hurler produced a career-high 12 strikeouts in each contest. Against Baylor, he held the Bears to one run on four hits and no walks in 8.0 innings. The Houston native earned SEC Pitcher of the Week honors for his season-opening performance against Fordham when he held the Rams to a hit and no walks over 7.0 shutout innings.

Doxakis is now the second Aggie to earn Player of the Month honors from NCBWA since 2016. The previous Aggie was Hunter Melton back in April of 2016.
