COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M pitcher John Doxakis earned the Golden Spikes Award Performance of the Week for his 12-strikeout game in the Opening Day win against the Fordham Rams.
USA Baseball honored the left-handed pitcher for his efforts, which included allowing one hit and no runner to reach scoring position in 7.0 innings of work.
The outing against Fordham was the third straight double-digit strikeout game for the southpaw, who also struck out 10 in the SEC Tournament versus Auburn and fanned 12 in the Aggies’ win over Indiana in the 2018 NCAA Austin Regional.
The accolade goes along with Doxakis’ SEC Pitcher of the Week honor, as he led the conference in strikeouts for opening weekend.
D1Baseball.com tabbed Doxakis as a Preseason All–American and he is also a Preseason All-SEC Second Team selection.
